Good news! A member of the party that is dedicated to protecting the rights of state governments is once again showing his dedication to the cause! This time he is trying to make sure that states can prosecute a doctor for helping someone commit suicide when that person is terminally ill! After all, if a state has passed a bill allowing physician assisted suicide – like Oregon – certainly it is important to be sure that that state enjoys its full power to, uh, protect its citizens from, umm, from, …

Ok, the logic escapes me, but we have to protect people! Terminally ill persons should enjoy the same right to life as everyone else. Yes, they may be going to die soon, and yes they may be in great pain, but they should have the right to live their life to the fullest, without interference from the state government. And if they’re dying and in constant pain, certainly a doctor should not be able to help them relieve their suffering in the only way possible? Right? Um, after all that would mean that … the doctor would be … the person’s rights would be … violated by …

Well anyway, God says that we should not take another life! Only he has the right to decide when a person should die. Life is, after all sacred, and if the pro-abortion, anti-embryo people don’t like it, we should amend the law so that they are subject to the death penalty just like every other murderer!

… What? No, that’s different! That’s not us deciding whether someone should die, that’s justice! And it’s different! In those other cases, the individual is actually making his/her own decisions about his/her own body, and in the death penalty case we are deciding … God is deciding … it’s a humane way to die! Just look at Missouri!

… What? Oh, shut up!
