More from Fact.Check.org. Today they report on the campaign of Vernon Robinson, a Republican running for the house in North Carolina. He’s running an add about his opponent, Rep. Brad Miller. In it, the Republicans say that Rep. Miller

spent your tax dollars to pay teenage girls to watch pornographic movies with probes connected to their genitalia.

This is an absolute, bald-faced lie. They are alleging that because Mr. Miller voted against a Republican bill to take funding away from 5 NIH sponsored projects that dealt with research into sexuality – reasonably asserting that it’s better for a panel of scientists to decide where research money goes rather than politicians – that he therefore voted ‘for’ a number of lewd and unnecessary research projects. They classify these as studies of Vietnamese prostitutes, ‘the masturbation habits of old men’, and ‘the Bisexual Transgendered and Two-Spirited Aleutian Eskimo’. Of course they misrepresent all of the projects. The first quote though is the most blatent lie. The study they are supposedly referring to did not involve teenage girls in any way, though it did study sexual arousal in adult women.

This is one of the most disgusting examples of election year bullshit (for lack of a better word) that I’ve ever heard of. I hope the voters of North Carolina realize and show Mr. Robinson what they think of him.
